In addition, the Black Student Alliance at Yale is organizing a March for Trayvon Martin entitled:  Justice for Trayvon Martin

Questions for Review:
  • What are the most important takeaways from these different links?
  • Do you think the poster for the march on Saturday is effective?  Why or why not?
  • What does justice really mean?
  • How does the concept of In Lak'Ech relate to this issue?
  • What should our ultimate goal be?  How can we get there?

  1. this is tradgic, and i know i sound like everyone but i guess that is because i am black so i to am everyone else. its sad, relentless, and questionable to the upmost. i mean they cant really beleive that man is innocent. i feel as though if the tables were turned trayvon would have imeeditly been incarsarated. i think this issue truley hit homes with new Haven itself because a couple of my friends were harmless and got shot being in the wrong place at the wrong time although its black on black crime those black boys were arrested for murder reguardless manslaughter or not he killed some one and no law should make that okay. #hoodiesupfortrayvonNhv its amazing trend. its become and city wide thing for us new haven, hamden and other towns protest. people who i neve had an idea were uploading picture of them self in hoodies or even holding skittles and arizona. utimatly its not even about the race its about justice. and i think thats whats really being hidden in this situation. an 17 year old defensly child was killed due to wearing an hoodie and appearing suspicious. its seriousluy sickening! i feel bad and i'll protest completly because i know this boy has to and will get justice. He could've been somebodies parent grandparent uncle he had a life ahead of him and i just think that this man shouldnt be able to walk free ad if nothing happended. nope nope, how can he even live with this? i know truley he is uncomfortable if he doesnt come to senses i hope someone will #justicefortrayvonMartin <3

  2. on feb 26 2012 trayvon martin was shot and killed in sanford, florid by unofficial neighborhood watchman george zimmerman. it is going to be effective because its going to show that the people around the united states care about the death of trayvon martin. its also going to be effective because zimmerman should be sreested and brought to justice. justice to me means the quality of being just, impartial, or fair

  3. i think that this is wrong because if a black male killed another black male he would be in jail, but since a white male killed a black male to the police its "one less "NIGGER" on the street".people are missing the point of the fact that this is murder no matter what the cause. to me he shot him out of fear he would get caught fighting the young teenager not out of fear that he was wearing a hoodie..

  4. I think our ultimate goal should be that human look each other the same. Don’t judge people from how they look or what they wear. Its not how people look or wear, its how people think, and do. I know this guy who is about 50 years old, and he gave millions of dollar to schools. To let the kids to learn, and have books to read. When other people look at him he picks up bottles, and buy cloth from good wills. If we don’t know his story then we think that he is a poor guy, and nobody cares about him. When we get to know him, He is a great guy that does good stuff for the world.

  5. the important takeaways from these different links is that people are showing their support in different ways.

justice means that people are punished for the actions they make. they get punished depending on how bad the actions they make are. justice is being punished for the bad things you do that you know are wrong and you still do it knowing its wrong.

Lak'Ech relates to this issue because i can kinda feel what the kid must of felt when this guy was following him and then killed him. i dont understand why the guy killed him. i mean if he felt in danger and the kid did hit him, he didnt need to kill him he could of just shot him somewhere else or just hit him back or he just should of never follow him and nothing would of happen.
